Lalbagh Fort S-W Bastion (area now known as Qillar Mor) built by prince Azam, 3rd son of Emperor Aurangzeb in 1678. The fort was named Qilla Aurangbad: Sir Charles D'oyle's (Collector of Dhaka since early 18th century) etching of 1816. Fort details click: "Lalbagh Fort Salvaged...."

Dear Sir: thank you for your great blog, no doubt the best from Dhaka. You may know me as Tanzirian from Skyscrapercity. One correction to this post...the picture labeled as "mosque in north west of Dhaka, now extinct" is in fact Shat Gombuj Masjid, still well preserved. Please keep up the great work, it is much appreciated by us probashis.
